State firm appeals OPM ban on aluminum output
Joseph R. Freifield, secretary of State Metals & Steel Co., protests an OPM priority ban for alleged priority order violations. The company delivered 67,000 pounds of ingots from 153,234 pounds of aluminum scrap to Timken Roller Bearing for deoxidizing, claiming no misdirection and noting wartime defense use. The firm plans appeal and seeks removal of the restriction, contending previous OPM approvals and local processing arrangements were misunderstood and inconsistent.
