Massillon Council Debates Rent Decontrol Resolution

Massillon council debated a resolution asserting no housing shortage and no need for further federal rent control. The measure moved toward sending the issue to Washington for action, with a Jan. 2 tabling vote after a 4-4 deadlock. Fears of housing shortages and turnout at hearings were weighed by Dowd and Keen amid calls for public reconsideration. The session also approved three 1950 finance actions and reviewed B&O Railroad service petitions affecting local train routes.
