Sours Pledges Road Resurfacing in Massillon Corridor
State highway director Hal G. Sours promised widening and resurfacing Canton Massillon Road to handle rising traffic after a conference with residents from Canton Massillon Alliance and Louisville. The plan includes each lane reaching 24 to 26 feet with a safety island kept between lanes. About 10 000 vehicles use the road daily due to naval ordnance plant activity and defense housing. Local groups seek military status or federal aid, while avoiding long traffic disruptions by proposing improvements over rebuilding.
