Canton Schools Shift To Bond Money For Repairs
Canton board of education authorized issuance of 49000 in short term bonds for repair and modernization at McKinley High and city elementary schools. Projects include wiring lighting at McKinley and several elementary sites, lab equipment at McKinley, roof repair at Wells, brick pointing at Martin, fire doors, temperature controls, and safes. The move departs from pay as you go due to state inspector requirements and recent levy failure, aiming to protect school property investments while reducing prior debt. The plan reflects a necessary but difficult shift to finance essential improvements under state demands.
