Clarke H. Kawakami, longtime Domei correspondent, resigns after Japan's attack on Hawaii and pledges to enlist in the American army. He calls Tokyo’s strike the blackest page in Japanese history and urges action to prevent further war while expressing readiness to serve the United States. His father is detained by immigration authorities. Kawakami plans to join the U.S. Army and asks friends in the State Department to vouch for his sincerity.
