Supreme Court Orders Gusik to Appeal for New Army Trial
The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that Ohio soldier Thomas A. Gusik must seek a new trial through the judge advocate general rather than file in civil courts. Gusik, on guard duty in Tirrenia, Italy, shot two people in 1947, was convicted of murder, and his sentence was later reduced from life to 16 years.
