California Nevada flood drives thousands from homes
About 5,000 Californians fled floods spilling into north central California and western Nevada, with 3,000 evacuated near Linda Hammonton Marysville area, 1,000 from Sacramento suburbs, and 1,600 in Kings River bottoms. Reno guardsmen and volunteers piled sandbags while the Truckee River neared flood stage. A new Pacific storm was forecast after two days of rain on recently saturated land.

Rufus le Maire Dies at 55, Hollywood Executive
