Preliminary College Study Underway In Canton

New Streamliner Unveiled by Hercules-Powered Train

Hoboken, N J yesterday saw the first run of the ACFTALGO ultra streamliner named Train of Tomorrow built by American Car and Foundry. Hercules motors power lighting climate control and propulsion with two DNX V8 engines and two six cylinder diesels. The four hinged passenger units seat 16 each plus a longer observation unit. weight cut by 75 percent and aluminum construction lowers center of gravity giving a suspensed feel.

Deputies Seek Safe Crackers at North Lawrence Elevator

The sheriff is investigating a safe robbery at North Lawrence Elevator Co. early Wednesday. Thieves pried open an 18 by 28 inch safe using railroad spikes and a hammer, taking 1104.80 in cash and checks. Owner John Helmuth reported 356.67 in cash and the rest in checks. he halted payment on the stolen checks.

Tractor Crash Kills Farmer on Bridge near Middlebranch

Dale W. Kyle 24 of Louisville was killed when his farm tractor plunged through a bridge railing into Whetstone Creek on Bridgeport Road northeast of Middlebranch. Coroner says death from a broken neck and crushed chest. Kyle, active in 4-H and local church, left a widow and two siblings. Funeral at Werner Church Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Burial in Warstler Cemetery.

Limaville Man Suffered Injuries After Car Overturned

Merle Walker, 36, of Limaville, was injured in a single vehicle crash on the Limaville New Baltimore road near Limaville when his car rolled four times after he fell asleep at the wheel. He was taken to Alliance City Hospital with a fractured shoulder, sprained ankle, and multiple cuts. The vehicle traveled 175 feet in the ditch before overturning.

Stage Cleared For Spelldown Finals Friday

The Repository hosts the three county spelling bee finals at Timken Vocational High School Friday at 8 p m. Thirty three champions, all winners of prior school and district events, compete for a shot at the national bee in Washington May 23 27. The event is open to the public and WHBC will broadcast live starting at 8 p m. Dinner at Timken High School cafeteria at 6 p m includes gifts for each champion. Washington April 21 AP Senator Myers of Pennsylvania predicts the Senate will reject most amendments to the long range housing bill. He says only a few votes would back Bricker and Cain anti discrimination in renting public housing and that the bill would fund 810000 units with up to 308 million dollars annually for 40 years.

City Will Get $85,068 In Car Tag Tax Payment

Stark County will receive 320,829 and Canton 85,068 in the early 1949 motor vehicle license tax distribution announced by State Auditor Joseph T. Ferguson. County Wards May Be Sent to Alliance School

Trustees of Fairmount Children's Home discuss transferring about 140 pupils to Alliance city schools next fall. A legal opinion from Stark County Prosecutor is needed before action.
