Judge Hagelin's court has been busy with debt and lease cases. Payette Mercantile Co. vs. G. W. Much yielded $136 on a $146 claim over rent and improvements. N. C. Mesenholder v Milton McIntire ended with $13 verdict for cattle herding losses amid alleged herder carelessness.

In this issue the towns of Nampa and Boise advertise a spirited Fourth of July. Both promise a remarkably good time with Nampa offering a broad array of events and Boise planning a three day celebration. Caldwell residents are expected to travel to each location.

Marriage Licences Show Surge In County County Clerk Sees Post Fourth Rise

County Clerk Badley notes a spike in marriage licenses issued last week with couples from Caldwell Emmett Nampa Payette and Boise obtaining papers. Notable couples include William W Clemens and Mary M Deep Rose Fuller and William E Barnard with Laura Edna Bridges Frank C Cook and Laura Edna Bridges married June 28 at the bride’s home. Albert Swope and Alice S Stone from Boise and Nampa also secured licenses while Fred G Goff and Ruth James are cleared for marriage after 10 A M Monday. The surge is expected to ease after the Fourth.

County Clerk Receives Blank Registers for New Medical Bill

The county clerk's office has received blank books for recording marriages births and deaths due to a recent medical bill. One copy of each death birth and marriage register will go to doctors ministers coroners sextons undertakers and others. Canyon County needs 85 death and 60 birth registers and about 80 marriage registers to comply. The bill faced legislature objections but is expected to benefit the state.

Oakes Brothers Donate Store Space to Caldwell Churches

Oakes Brothers offered free space in their store room to Caldwell churches under a 6 percent sharing plan. On Wednesday receipts totaled 28 dollars with 7 dollars donated, Baptist day on Thursday yielded 10 dollars and 7.50 from ice cream sales, totaling 17.50. Friday benefited the Methodists, but final figures were not available as the Tribune went to press.

Sensational Shooting at Idanha Hotel Boise

A jealous quarrel led H M Hedges to shoot A S Whiteway seven times in a Boise Idanha hotel room. Five bullets struck Whiteway, who lies at St Luke's hospital. Hedges surrendered to police and remains jailed. Whiteway's condition improves, with no immediate danger of death unless infection arises.

Caldwell Interurban Sold to Boise Valley Railroad

The Caldwell Interurban is sold to Boise Valley Electric Rail Road Company in a 67,560 dollar deal. Boise Valley assumes 30,000 dollar bonded debt and issues 5 percent gold bonds at par for 27,550 dollars of stock. The plan includes extending lines to Caldwell and Lake Lowell, plus a branch to Warm Springs, creating a regional electric network. Caldwell is forecast for rapid growth as agricultural lands connect to irrigation, with the city poised for major prosperity within five years.
