History of Canyon County Fair Association

In Caldwell since 1900 a pioneer fair association has grown into a leading regional event. The unit plans a strong year with higher premiums, better grounds, and expanded facilities on a 40 acre site near Caldwell with new grounds and improved amenities.

Fair Grounds Race Track Completion Highlighted at Fair

The fair grounds race track costs 1365.50 to finish. Caldwell claims its superiority while President Campbell asserts no northwest track matches it. Secretary Gowen has 34 stall applications and J W Garrett seeks eight more stalls for cattle. The board weighs more sheds and stalls and grants erection rights to simulate association stables for ranchers during the fair.

Brown divorce filed for cruelty against William H Brown

Clara May Brown files for divorce in the clerk's office naming William H Brown as respondent with three children involved. The complaint accuses him of extreme cruelty and names Mrs Ridgley as co respondent.

Forward Club Ice Cream Social Planned at Hartley Home

The cemetery committee of the Forward Club will host an ice cream social at Mrs. H. K. Hartley’s home Wednesday evening August 28. The event invites members and neighbors to share desserts and fellowship in a community gathering.

Caldwell band to attend gathering with refreshments

Attorney R B Scatterday returned from Pontiac Illinois and other eastern cities Wednesday. Stipulations were fled Wednesday between Oregon Short Line and Pioneer Irrigation District. The railroad seeks injunction to prevent tax collection for 1905 and 1906 on land described as its right of way. The matter will be heard at the next court.

Coal shortages spark plan for charity aid group

The Tribune reports a suggestion that due to expected coal scarcity and high prices this winter a charitable organization be formed to assist the poor. Those willing to help may notify The Tribune to manifest interest and establish the body. The aim is to prevent suffering through organized relief.

Mrs Fahy, aged 83 or 84, is gradually growing weaker each day as her son P. H. Fahy and two nieces Mrs McKenzie and Miss Martha Gilgan stay constantly by her side.

Caldwell will rise with San Francisco Idaho and Montana railroad

The San Francisco Idaho and Montana railroad is rapidly building from Caldwell toward Winnemucca Nevada with about 40 teams and 50 men. The line will pass Greenleaf Homedale and Sheaville, boosting Caldwell as a commercial hub and future manufacturing center. City boosters urge participation in a $45 000 bonus to support the project, predicting thousands in construction revenue and long term growth.
