All Hunters Very Successful in Early Bowbells Hunt
About 200 firearms woke Bowbells at dawn as the hunting season opened. Roughly 30 men gathered at the reservoir and ravine and hunted from first light to about seven. John Moore led with five ducks before six. Half the male population roamed county areas, returning with game. ducks predominated but chickens were common. All hunters returned satisfied for Sunday.

Tornado Destroys Large Portion of Ramsey County
A tornado swept through four Ramsey county townships in North Dakota Saturday night causing about 70000 in damages. No lives were lost. Edmore was the storm’s start point, moving southwest to Webster. A farmer reported his rig was lifted and turned before being set down. Shocks of grain and harvest products were scattered. The Lutheran church in Cleveland township was lifted from its foundations and carried a distance.

Soo plans railroad across Missouri River into McKenzie county
The Soo railroad will build a branch from Plaza across the Missouri into McKenzie county this fall. Surveyors found an easy grade in a coulee to reach the river bank and the line will be ready for winter operation. To move materials the company will build a track across the ice this winter and rail transport will extend to locomotives and steam shovels. Great Northern contracts for grading and track laying will be let soon with bids by construction firms after evaluating the right of way. Two Missouri River bridges will be built for the Great Northern and Soo lines, signaling a large expenditure. Dr Gordon McClellan travels to Noonaga to cover Dr Smith’s vacation practice.

Grafton Boy Fatally Shot After Finding Gun
Grand Forks N D Sept 11 Eugene Haussman nine year old son of Mr and Mrs H L Haussman of Grafton was instantly killed last evening after a shotgun left in a car by Sam Nelson was found by the children in the Haussman yard during supper time The weapon either already loaded or loaded by the children caused a full charge to strike Eugene in the eye and blow off the top of his head The Haussman family is well known in the state A new awning has been placed on the Bowbells Cash Store.

Tragic Hunting Accident Ends in Gun Wound Death
John S. Johnson of 15 miles southwest of Columbus died Tuesday afternoon from an infection after being accidentally shot in the hip Monday while hunting chickens. The incident occurred when his double barrel gun discharged as he reached for the lines during a buggy scramble after a startled chicken. Johnson, 30, married with a family, died after physicians from Columbus and nearby towns failed to save him. the infection was noted as a rare type in the region.
