Hanson moves to close the opera house block building while two men bound over to district court on public nuisance charges related to gambling. Judge Leighton granted an injunction to seal the entire structure, with a hearing set to decide permanency of the modification.
Ralph Gard son of Mr and Mrs J G Gard of this city narrowly escaped death after entering a large motor spirits tank at Standard Oil Co. He became unconscious from fumes but was rescued by Reginald Coleman Al Harden and Dr Limburg and carried to his home where he recovered enough to rise the next day. A bidder seeks a barn large enough to house two cows in Bowbella North Dakota.
The Greaves Telephone Co plans another year or two of work after a busy summer. Over a hundred new farmers in Burke county connected since last spring on lines built by the company, with several construction crews still at work.
States Attorney H A Hanson received a $500 draft from the bondsmen of Harry Dean of Columbus who was arrested on a charge of pigging and whose bond was forfeited after he failed to appear in district court. The money goes into the county treasury.
North of Coteau threshing grounds bustle as Mike Mertes Gust Albertson and P M Northenscold run rigs. Dozens of outfits feed Coteau elevators while local farmers hire harvest help and school staffing shifts occur.

Mrs. Wm Watt of Foothills township died in Bowbells after several months of illness. Blood poisoning had set in weeks earlier and no treatment could save her. She leaves a husband and an 11 year old daughter. funeral date not learned.

Phillip Lews visits from Canada to look after property while Bernard Finkenhagen and Olga return from Velva. Births and departures mark a busy period with travel to Williston Minot Decorah and Flaxton noted.
Tuesday night burglary hits Hunter Hardware Store as local notices relay movements of residents and students in Luther College area. Reading details show numerous staff changes, teaching assignments, travel, and school openings as the community adjusts after the incident.
Thieves broke a rear window between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at the T. O. Hunter store and stole about 300 dollars in razors knives a shot gun and a revolver. Entry was gained by lifting a heavy beam and prying the door between rooms. Expensive knives and every razor were taken while cheaper blades were left. A Winchester shotgun a Colt revolver and cash were also missing. The floor showed burned matches and drawers behind the counter were rifled. No arrest yet but the sheriff is pursuing leads.
A Monday deal transfers the C. P. Ellei farm in Roseland township to 8 M Sorenson cashier of the First State Bank of Niobe. All grain, livestock, machinery, and household goods pass to the buyer for 6500 dollars. Ellei converts assets to cash and Sorenson prepares for fall work with the place.
