Federal pen for forgery in Fargo court

A. W. McMasters, a Donnybrook farmer, confessed in U S district court to forging the name of Deli Patterson on a seditious letter to Lieut enant O Leary A B E. He was sentenced to three years in Leavenworth with sentences to run concurrently. McMasters, 42, said he opposed Patterson for the legislature and acted to benefit himself. He appeared with his wife and child, and was backed by Senator McCumber and Senator Gronna during 1909–1911.

Lansford man burned to death in home fire

Minot ND October 24 Juline Berg a prominent Lansford resident is burned to death when his home caught fire from an oil stove around two o clock Wednesday morning. He had returned home after working in the country and was found dead hours later. Unmarried, Berg had lived in Lansford for years and previously worked for Dammann Implement Co. He was about thirty and his death cast gloom over the community. In Conway burglars blew open the bank vault and safe stealing about $3000, plus parcel post robbery from the post office.

Threaten the President Charged in North Dakota

Fargo N D Oct 24 Henry Mehmert a North Dakota man was charged with threatening the life of President Wilson under the February 14 1917 act. He allegedly declared he would like to see a rope around the President's neck and was arrested at Sheldon by Deputy Marshal J H Trotter. He appeared before U S Commissioner J G Pfeifer for preliminary examination.
