A teacher from Amanda arrived with lumber wagons and her shack went up in about three hours. A lottery of second choices also occurred as eager applicants sought plots. A letter from Gordon McLellan in Chicago says he will study medicine and found lodging while noting regional farming progress. A nearby farmer cut weeds along a four mile road during wet weather. For sale a quarter section near Bowbells. a land sale notice and inviting local dance at Coteau this weekend.

Another Escapes at Bismarck in North Dakota
Ed Molen escaped from the pen in Bismarck after securing a brace and bit, climbing over a roof, then using a plank and rope to reach the officers’ quarters. Dogs followed to Robert Clark’s place, where scent was lost. Clark’s horse disappearance suggested Molen fled with the animal. Molen, a twice-convicted horse thief, had recently been sent to Bowman county jail and transferred to the region.

Death of Milo Maschka in 22 Cal Rifle Accident
Milo Maschka eight year old son of Mr and Mrs H C Maschke of Kenmare met instant death from accidental discharge of a 22 caliber rifle carried by him and a playmate at the lake shore. The shooting occurred while the boys were alone. Milo stumbled and the bullet struck his heart. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon, with Rev Heidenberg officiating, and burial in the local cemetery.
