Lignite Couple Married In This City

Car J Bagnen and Misa Merilla Clinton of near Lignite wed Saturday in this city at the Presbyterian church with Rev E A Glicriat officiating. Attendants were George Clinton and Clara Baglien. They returned home the same evening. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs John Baglien, is a prominent Burke county worker. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs M H Hein, is from a populous nearby community. The Tribune offers congratulations and best wishes. A baby girl arrived Tuesday night at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Faperson.

Draft age to work or fight under new ruling

Washington May 30 Every man of draft age must work or fight after July 2 under a drastic amendment to the selective service regulations announced today by Provost Marshal General Crowder. Idlers and all registrants in non-useful occupations will be given a new number and sent to military service if they refuse useful work. The measure targets gamblers, bucket shop attendants, waiters, bartenders, theatre workers, hotel staff, and others including ball players and riders in a broad, extending list. Local boards may act even without original jurisdiction, excluding dependents as a factor in applying the rule, with extensions anticipated as necessity requires. The aim is to boost labor for farms, shipyards, and munitions while ending talk of broad conscription.

Bramarck May 30. An alleged whiskey distillery and blind pig were raided at Hague under William Langer attorney general. A Northern Pacific freight car held about a dozen fifty gallon barrels of liquor plus bottles and equipment. Leonard Munz, owner of the blind pig, was arrested. Langer’s party claimed large quantities of liquor were seized.

Delected Men Entertained on Return from Camp Lewis

Eighteen soldiers from this city who left for Camp Lewis Wash on Saturday were entertained Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The afternoon involved visits and a clergy turnout. a dramatic show at the Royal Theatre followed by a grand ball. A large crowd attended both events with high spirits and the evening entertainment continued.
