New Law Makes Counties Pay Insane Care Costs In Ward County
Under HB 205 approved March 14 each county must levy funds for its insane residents. Ward County will owe about 3170 yearly for 27 patients on a half month cost of 129.00, or 259.80 monthly, with the first quarterly report listing names and charges. The state auditor will decide liable counties in disputes and transfers will fund the state hospital for the insane.

Will Fight the Law In Northwood Liquor Case Today
Grand Forks special reports the first round in the liquor seizure fight in Judge Kleven's Northwood court. Agent Tinner is cited to show cause why liquor seized at Northwood depot should not be destroyed. Lawyers for liquor interests, led by George A Bangs, claim the law unconstitutional and plan a supreme court appeal. Names of seized shipments include three cases of beer to J Nelson and others, plus whisky and a keg. Great Northern notes will constotute no liability for the goods.

Soo to Repair Kenmare Bowbells Line With Major Bridge Work
The Soo will deploy two large crews from Kenmare to repair the Minneapolis to Portal stretch between Kenmare and Bowbells. Plans call for filling 19 bridges, including the largest above Kenmare, removing 243 825 yards of dirt, widening cuts to ease snow clearance, and completing the project over about three years under Roadmaster P H Flatley. The work aims to improve safety and efficiency for travelers and reduce winter disruptions.

Big booze haul as six drays haul beer and whisky
State's Attorney McGee directs Chief Hagan and Officer Hyland to confiscate a car load of beer at the Great Northern freight depot. The beer, about thirty or forty barrels, is stored in the city hall basement for ten days as legal action may follow against the consignees. Whisky was seized but not removed. Near Ambrose J J OBrien was liquidly drugged then pressured to sign a quit claim on his farm by two men named Roche and Hulbert aided by liquor. Rural Carriers’ Pay Rise Under New D C Schedule
Washington post reports Postmaster General Meyer approves a detailed salary readjustment for rural free delivery carriers. Effective July 1, the new schedule raises pay 9 to 25 percent based on mileage, with annual amounts listed from 900 dollars for routes of 24 miles or more to 396 dollars for six to eight miles. Total rural service expenditure next year slated near 35 million.
