Horsnell Held to Grand Jury in Dakota Land Frauds

William T. Horsnell faces a federal grand jury on charges of conspiring to defraud the United States of public lands. A U.S. Commissioner held him to the grand jury with bail set at 1500 dollars. The case centers on a homestead application by Nora Goodkind, a St. Paul milliner, who said she was promised payment and trips in exchange for signing papers later found filled with land descriptions in South Dakota. The land description matched land recorded in the tract book as selected for homestead purposes.
