Hatton Auto Crash Kills Two Men Including 61-Year-Old
In Hatton North Dakota July 10 an automobile crash near a bridge west of town killed B. K. Claddon 61 and injured Iver Groth 80 who later died. Both men were returning from Grand Forks and were intoxicated driving a Ford that struck the railing and toppled into a culvert. Groth suffered a broken back in the wreck. Both victims were longtime local farmers and well known in the Hatton district.

Lightning kills Omenee youth. Kibbe gravely hurt in field
In Omenee North Dakota Arthur Bigerdorf 20 and Herman Kibbe 21 were struck by a bolt of lightning while standing beside two horses in a field. Bigerdorf was killed instantly Kibbe was seriously injured with broken bones and other injuries while two horses also died in the incident.

Woman Alive After Plunge From Eighteen Foot Wall
In Annamoose North Dakota Mrs Anha Schulze age 81 fell into four fest of water in an eighteen foot wall. She was discovered four hours later and likely will survive. She held herself above the water by grasping projections in the side of the wall and barely remained in place when found by family members.

Mohall N D July 10 Albert Hoefs arrested last week on a charge of wife beating was taken to Minot to serve a 30 day sentence. He pled guilty to a charge of incest at Minot last Saturday evening and was given a four year sentence in the penitentiary at Bismarck. States Attorney Thos J Clifford Clerk J D Taylor and Deputy Sheriff Geo Scofield escorted him to Minot Saturday evening for sentencing before Judge Leighton.

Accident on the Mouse River near Minot
A boat with a man and woman sank at a deep bend in the Mouse River west of Minot. The woman, who filled the boat, clutched the man, both sank, and rescuers including a fireman and two launches saved them after the boat overturned. The man swam to shore and a doctor was called. the woman recovered with only a bad fright. In a separate note, William Hardine of Stanton was bound over to district court for forging checks after a recent prison term for obtaining goods under false pretenses.

John Ulrich aged 20 was accidentally killed at his parents home near Ashley North Carolina. He took a shotgun to draw water for stock and a shot entered his stomach. The body was found by younger siblings hours later while parents were away.

Fatal automobile accident in Westhope kills Mrs. Owen Thomas
Mrs. Owen Thomas wife of a local druggist was instantly killed in an auto accident near Westhope North Dakota as she traveled with Mr. and Mrs. W R McIntosh to Deloraine Manitoba for Dominion Day. The car rolled on a hill and occupants were thrown out. She died on impact and leaves a husband and two young sons.

Electric Light Franchise is Passed By City Aldermen
Knox North Dakota July 10 a two year old child girl child of Mr and Mrs C F Barle of Knox was burned to death in a fire that destroyed the farm home. The origin of the fire is not known and the blaze was not noticed until it had a good start. The parents efforts to save the girl failed. The Barle family other two children were not at home. The farm belongs to Mrs M E Delameter Grand Forks and she will come to Knox. The house and furniture were destroyed with land valued at 1500 to 2000 dollars and no insurance. A heavy rain later put out the fire.

Bearden Granted Electric Franchise in Graceville
The Bowbells city council approved a 20 year franchise for J. M. Bearden of Graceville Minnesota to erect and operate an electric light plant and distribution system in Bowbells. Alderman Hartman opposed, citing debt limits, but the ordinance passed after a petition from taxpayers and council discussion. Canadian based horse thief nabbed at Devils Lake
Devils Lake North Dakota July 8 a horse thief identified as William Wilson was captured after stealing a horse and buggy from John McCauley of Lake township on June 26. Lightning Strikes Man in Lidgerwood Knocks Him Unconscious
