Four Burke county inmates faced sentencing by Judge Jayde Leight after admitting guilt to pigging and embezzlement. Wm. Rogers and Arthur Foster, both of Columbus, received 90 days plus fines. J. Z. Dunwoody of Columbus was charged with embezzling from Standard Grain. Nick Schaak faced attempted jail delivery at Portal. Sentences included potential reform parole and continued jail custody pending state board action.
A bill in the North Dakota legislature seeks to abolish the drug permit and allow liquor sales only on prescriptions from licensed physicians. Prescriptions must be filled the day given, and any nonmedicinal sales could implicate both pharmacist and physician.
