Price control revival bill faces Congress

A bill proposing a four year program to revive price controls by the United States government is introduced in Congress. Supporters, including Representative Sinclair, argue it could relieve farmers and stabilize agricultural markets if precedents and constitutional authority are observed. The Bow Bella Cemetery Association held a Thursday afternoon bazaar at the Royal Theatre for funds. Net proceeds totaled 105000, with donations from Mrs Heath Mrs John Bryan and others and a committee led by Mrs Heath planning next year’s event.

Pioneer Nis Dies At Home Of Daughter In Moon

Johannes Olgon, a longtime pioneer in the Moon area, died last Wednesday morning at 4 30 at the home of his daughter Mrs Hans M Hansem of three miles west of town. He had been ill for months and bedridden three weeks, death due to old age and related complications after an internal illness at Bowbells hospital. He was born in Sweden and came to the United States 78 years ago, settling in Kandiyohi County before moving toward Moon where he lived until his death.

Mennonites Return to United States from Canada

A train carrying 108 Mennonites departed Binford Sask to Yellow Pine Ala after four years of crop failures in Canada. Fifteen freight cars and two emigrant coaches carried the group, with transportation cost about $10,000 paid in advance. They faced anti war sentiment, but Canada allowed their religious beliefs to exempt them from conscription. They contributed to Red Cross relief.

McCue libel suit verdict awards $7600 against publishers

Fargo North Dakota. Jury awards T. F. McCue of Carrington $7600 in a libel suit against the Cooperative Publishing Company and A. M. Baker former editor over an August 11 1916 Herald article alleging failure to heed illegal gambling operations. The case will be appealed.

State income tax blanks to be mailed for 1921 filings

The state tax department has received the 1921 income tax blanks from the state printer and will send them to taxpayers who earned income in 1921. Failure to receive blanks does not relieve filing duties. net income above exemptions must still be reported. A combined Corporation and Capital Stock report replaces separate forms to reduce duplication and streamline distribution to the public.

GALL ISSUED FOR PREGINGT MEETINGS

Precinct meetings for the Nonpartisan League are set for February 23 with one delegate per precinct to attend the county convention and decide on candidates for legislature and county offices. Townley will attend the state convention as delegates are chosen. Precinct meetings are urged for February 22.

Stockholders to Receive Dividend Amid Rate Dispute

At Kenmare on December 10 1921 the Greaves Telephone Co board announced a six percent dividend to stockholders as cash flow allows. The meeting set new officer roles F F Carter president Evan Griffith vice president and treasurer with H P N Kamp C H Wright and W C Mitchell aboard. The Public Utilities Commission had ruled 16 percent on preferred stock discriminatory and urged quarterly advance payments to recover arrears and protect service continuity.
