Trainman Pinioned Under Wheels in Wilton Tragedy
Bismarck North Dakota December reports that B A Underwood an 800 line conductor was killed instantly when three freight cars passed over him as he worked as a brakeman. Two young witnesses said he slipped between cars fell landed on his right shoulder and tried to grab brake beams before the wheels rolled over him. Man in jail on check charge in Fargo
Frank Conlin alias W. P. Geady, jailed in Cass county on a charge of issuing worthless checks. He was rearrested on obtaining money under false pretenses after a $25 check to Jennie Tucker, proprietor of the Gordon hotel, on a Chicago bank. Frank Van Berkom of near Powers Lake pleaded guilty before District Judge John C Lowe in Minot to possession and operating a still. Bowbells basketball team opens the season Tuesday at the local high school auditorium facing Konmare. The squad, in fall condition after weeks of practice, features five returning players plus veterans. Last season Bowbells was a state title contender, defeating most local foes except Minot, and an even stronger lineup is anticipated this year. Bandits Loot Lone Tree Bank Vault in Minot Catch
Bandits tunneled through a vault wall at the First State Bank of Lone Tree near Minot. They used explosives to open the inner door and stole about $900 in Liberty Bonds $200 in cash and postage stamps and valuable paper notes. The robbery likely occurred around 2 AM with wires cut and no witnesses. Police traced the post office money order book 4311 to 4400 and the stamps to the Lone Tree post office. authorities noted two explosive charges and a crow bar were used.

Drinks Lysol Will Recover In Fargo Hospital
Augusta Kronelka an 20 year old Kenmare resident is recovering in a Fargo hospital after an apparent suicide attempt by drinking Lysol. The Kenmare teacher had been staying with Moreau, who called police when she fled. A search found her exhausted at E A Lindstrom’s home and she was rushed to the hospital. She is described as a Northern European type and temperamental.

FIRE HALT BURNS AT SURrey G N Station EAST OF MINOT
A fire destroyed Surrey the first G N east of Minot station last Thursday at 4 pm. The building housed two engines and chemicals along with large quantities of gasoline and kerosene. An explosion from a kerosene stove likely sparked the blaze. no one was inside. Doc Wolf raised the alarm after hearing the blast. Surrey now lacks any firefighting protection.
