Crosby Visited by the Fire Fiend

Fire at noon destroyed six buildings on Main street in Crosby N D causing a loss of several thousand dollars The Clinton and Crosby hotels were consumed The blaze began in a pool hall from a defective flue and spread despite citizen efforts and the water brigade with total damages estimated at 12000 dollars The Clinton hotel owners Laraham Polly and J K Johnson are named along with Mrs Hendrickson of the Crosby hotel and Liver Olson who owned two pool halls

New and Better Bowbells Fire Destroys $40,000 in Columbus

Fire on Thanksgiving morning wiped out seven Columbus businesses causing about 40000 in losses. The blaze started at I A Evernam s beer shop and spread rapidly before officials could halt it. Listed losses include McMonagle Son G T Couaghlin Paulson Stenrude A M McCoy M Olson EF Fiegel P A Evernam Wm Chandler Thorkildson Bros Chas Woodmuss. The event prompted plans for new construction on Main Street as rebuilding begins. The Bowbells merchant offers bargains and a plan to move to Kenmare with a branch store while settling accounts. Local theater West Henry Co performed in Minot and plans for Kenmare engagement follow.

Minot School Officers Meet Discuss County Education

Seven three school officers gathered in Minot for a Ward county meeting. Topics included teacher salaries, clerks and treasurers pay, voting rights for site selection, truant enforcement, and depository procedures. State Superintendent Stockwell spoke on rural schools. no November school fund apport ionment due to financial strain. notes on wheat costs and local business notices followed.
