State Guarantee of Bank Deposits in North Dakota
North Dakota insurers the payment of all deposits in state banks under the Guarantee Fund Law passed in 1917. The act creates a five member commission and funds via deposits assessments to reach one percent of average daily deposits, guaranteeing public and private deposits in covered banks while excluding national banks unless they opt into the system. It discusses confidence, risk, and Federal Reserve Board attitudes toward farmers and farm collateral during tight money periods.
