District Court Rules Against Larsen and Bankers in Mandamus Action

North Dakota district court under Judge Lowe holds that county funds and certificates of deposit misused after Larsen left office cannot be drawn on to pay warrants from other funds. I W W member faces grief after threshing rig incident

An I W W member, identified as John Callahan in Judge l's court, worked on a Nobis threshing rig for over a day and was paid about 409. The next day he confronted Mr. Dobis in Bow demanding cash for the check. Dobis said he did not have that amount but could secure it at a bank. Callahan then attacked Dobie, threatening to shut down the county threshing rig until Callahan was released, with promises of 500 S W W members arriving within 24 hours. trouble has since followed.

Whiskey Taken Away From Farmer

Residents heard heavy shooting in the northern city area last Thursday night as an American farmer near the Canadian line tried to sell whisky to a local vendor. Two cars pursued the farmer who led them toward the north hill, with twenty shots fired and three tires shot out. The farmer was forced to surrender the whisky before escaping toward the north hill. In a separate note, Hobe and Baright, extradited from Butte, Mont., face district court on robbery with violence charges for holding up the Robert Andrist home near Woodend, Saskatchewan, and stealing whisky.

Thresher scalded to death in Manitoba disaster

Erle Anderson, 39, died 34 hours after a threshing engine plug burst loose due to stripped threads. Boiling water and steam scalded him as he attempted to tighten the plug with a wrench. He ran home for help but died after complications. He leaves a wife and seven children.

Floyd Kagel, 18, of Plat ton, lost one finger when a ring snagged on a screw on a grain wagon box. He jumped for water, the ring tightened, and the finger was torn off. doctors amputated the finger’s first joint.
