Sawyer Man Shot During Sunday Row
Animoose North Dakota Aug 24 Adolph Kimpel a Sawyer man about thirty was shot in the upper leg and seriously but not fatally wounded by Deputy Sheriff F Foster of Turtle Lake in a Strawberry Lake disturbance. Foster and others were badly wounded as Kimpel party attacked. Foster later left, returned with revolver, and tried to arrest the assailants while the crowd tried to remove him. Troops of bystanders and locals intervened to prevent further violence. The Kimpels claim no excuse for shooting. Police later arrested the Kimpel party and recovered stolen property. The incident left many injured and property damaged.

Mapleton North Dakota August 24 A gun accident at the Brenhelser farm nine miles southeast of NaPolvon left Marco Kaloyan age nine dead from a shotgun discharge while two Brenhelser boys and Kaloyan handled a shell. The older Brenhelser boys had cleaned the gun earlier and another 19 year old helped on the gun inspection. Funeral services were set for Monday morning with a cost of trouble noted and a Buick car incident involving Ole Skukrud from Yates. The vehicle was found abandoned northeast of Beach and Skukrud faced a $100 repayment for the trouble. The story notes telegraphed car description across towns between here and Wisconsin.
