Pioneer Woman Answers Summons

Mrs Eliza P Griffin a Burke county pioneer died Tuesday noon at her home near Larson Funeral was held Thursday eve at eight officiated by Rev March of Columbus and burial was beside her husband in Flaxon cemetery She leaves seven children 88 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren The obituary notes her Maine birth in 1829 marriage in 1847 move west to St Paul and Carver Minn homesteading near Larson later Bowbells North Dakota and that she aided the sick and sorrowing.

North Dakota Mutual Hail Insurance Faces Liabilities

The North Dakota Mutual Hail Insurance Association cannot meet its Liabilities this year due to frequent hail storms. Farmers pay 20 cents per acre into a statewide fund to cover losses. Grand Forks County shows a near break, Ramsey County reports a shortfall despite premiums, Pembina sees several thousand deficit, and western counties may worsen totals. Postoffice Safe at Erie Blown

Erie North Dakota August 6 The postoffice safe in Mosher and Nutting general store was blown last night. Robbers secured 110 in cash with 60 belonging to the post office and 50 to the store. Entry gained through the back door. The burglary was not found until morning. Several stamps were destroyed by the blast.

Woman Bound In Bed And Gagged At Glendon North Dakota

Bound hand and foot and gagged, Mrs. Joseph Zeeman of six miles from Glenburn endured twelve hours in her bed before help arrived. A masked intruder searched the house while the motive appeared to be robbery. Her four-year-old daughter finally freed her, six hours later. The assailant remains unidentified.

Bishop Confirms 22 Here Sunday in Bis marck Diocese

The Right Reverend Bishop Wehrle of the diocese of Bismarck visited St. Joseph's church this Sunday. He confirmed twenty two parishioners after high mass and spoke on the sacrament. He praised the church and altar beautification and urged joining the Altar Society. Conference attendees included Agnes Gorman Loretta Lepper and more, with a dinner at the parish house afterward. The bishop then went to Kenmare for school matters and has served as priest or bishop for over 27 years.
