A county fair meeting at Attorney Geo H Phelps office drew Bowbells residents to plan the fair. Officers were elected led by President Fred F Carter and Vice President Geo H Phelps. A deficit of 23.75 was noted from last fall, committees formed for premiums finances amusements advertising and grounds. Plans aim to have the premium list ready by August 15.

Sand Vetch Grows Wild In Canada
Bowbells residents recall the sand vetch exhibited by John Skinner at the county fair last fall. E. E. Hartman saved pods and planted seed, producing three healthy vines. A visitor from Alberta, R. O. McElwain, said it is widely grown in Canada as the Canadian wild pea and seed sells for 50 cents per bushel. Some farmers fear high seed prices but see potential if obtainable cheaply.

George S White finished summer fallowing 230 acres on the Emery place just south of the city on Wednesday afternoon and moved his rig yesterday to a farm several miles farther south where he has another job summer fallowing 50 acres.

Thought Wife Thought Shot Dead Near Max North Dakota
In Minor, North Dakota, late last night neighbors believed Mrs. John Kalmage was shot after her husband fired at the home with a rifle. Sheriff Kelly and others went to the scene and found Mrs. Kalmage alive. Kalmage had fired into the air to frighten her outside, then returned the rifle. A manhunt for Kalmage continues as officials label him dangerous. railroad surveys proceed toward the Canadian border with plans to place a depot at Murphy corner. Stolen team grieves Carrington farmer in North Dakota
Carrington, N. D. July 27. W. H. Straus of Billings county awoke to find his team of horses missing from the wye area after a night of picketing. He observed two men in an open buggy with a gray team and two others, westbound, suggesting the outfit may now be in tow. Straus, who came to Harvest work, has lost his sole livelihood. Also noted: only twelve district treasurers filed bonds by the deadline, delaying county payments. A Bowbells school inquiry offers a home for light chores to a suitable helper. tf

Bowbells Youth Halts Runaway Mare At Shenneman Farm
In Bowbells a blooded mare belonging to Ralph Schudar bolted after a fright on the Migge residence road. Clinton Corey, 11, son of E E Corey, stopped the horse near the Shenneman place without harm to horse or wagon. Local boy scout praised for prompt action in this incident.
