Washington April 6 More than 10 000 second and third class postmasters were placed under civil service today by executive order of President Wilson. Present incumbents not affected, but future vacancies will trigger open competitive examinations. Highest eligible candidate submitted to the president. No person over 65 shall be examined. The senate retains right to reject appointees.

Auto Accident Involving Knudson and Parner Near Grand Forks

Elevator Platform Accident Leaves Horses Safe
Portana leader John Dordol nearly lost a team of horses when a farmers elevator platform broke at Hank s last Wednesday. The horses toppled into the pit as the harness failed, but the sleigh and grain remained secure.
