Ed Powers died instantly after a heavy lamp collapsed during an ice loading task on a Tuesday afternoon in Russell. Witnesses BE EL Neiss John A Coburn Lora Stoyser and others aided the body to an undertaker parlor while Coroner Devine declined an inquest. Powers, about 25, had long worked in livery and dray service in Russell.
