An officer intervened and orders restored passage. A later incident involved a three boat convoy and bayonets drawn, with one Frenchman injured. The fighting stems from past fatality of Corporal Hughes and ongoing tensions among units in the lath Infantry and gd Artillery, with parallels drawn to patched hostilities between French and American troops.
