Opal Provost has been absent this week from school due to illness. J. H. Herbert from near Elmwood conducted business in Beaver on Tuesday.
Mrs J W Cayler and Helen attended P A and Sunday School Party at Olive church after sessions began Friday night. Big basket dinner Sunday with dinner and supper served Saturday. Delegates Mrs J B Provost and Mrs Dave Barrow traveled to Wichita Kansas for the Woman s Foreign Missionary Society convention. Mrs Meador will join at Forgan as delegate from Forgan. Ernest Slocum Hor Breeder discussed plans for a hog house and pavilion costing about 2000. T C Braidwood of Six Mile visited Beaver Tuesday promoting back to the farm. Mrs A Huteh of Lorena bought books for the School District. Mr and Mrs Homer McCoy returned from Dawson New Mexico to Beaver and McCoy will barber at O K Shop. J F Newsom, ex county agent now with Kansas City Bowthorn Railway, attended Texas County Fair at Guymon. Will Meeker and son Bernie visiting Beaver. Meeker is proprietor of Store.
County Agent Hanty reports Beaver County outscored Texas County in wheat and forage crops at the Beaver County Agricultural Exhibit. Robt Wooden of Lakento won first on oats, Chas Eyer of Wtiveretde won first on Sweet Potatoes, H M Taft of Gate second on corn, and Clydy Rummers of Forgan third on corn. A resale tax notice warns landowners to redeem delinquent parcels before November 28.
F G Householder of near Knowles and Farmers Elevator president died in Dodge City Kansas after a stomach cancer illness. He was buried last Sunday and survived by a wife three sons and one daughter. The column notes Robin Breckenridge’s visit from Pueblo and H P Stonam’s return from Houston to see a sick niece, plus Harry Barnes and Helen traveling to Los Angeles for winter schooling and ear treatments. Local travelers Abe May Willats Mabel Humphrey Veds Gardner Ghindys Edna Warby and Clyde Gregerson are mentioned with winter plans in Mountain View and Goodwell.
A recent closure transfers ownership of W. F. Carson & Company real estate and insurance to J. O. Jud Jr. and K. D. Humphrey due to health issues. The Carson family plans to move to southern Arizona for permanent residence while Jud and Humphrey run the business, already well known in the county.
Work began last week on adding a second story to the First National Bank building. Excavation for the basement is underway and the corner improvement on Douglas avenue will enhance the building’s appearance. Upon completion the upper story will house Attorney Stacy Wells with his law offices and living apartments.
A call to push a new large hotel in Beaver grows, citing the pavilion progress at the fair grounds and a National Bank addition. Backers pledge substantial sums including at least one $1000 commitment with more donors ready to invest. Meanwhile Jones Brothers and others win several prizes at a Guymon sale, highlighting breeding successes across junior sow and pig championships.
Young people from the Federated Christian Endeavor surprised Mise Ellen Carson at her home on Friday. They played games, shared an evening together, and enjoyed refreshments at the usual hour.

Mattie Sprague started for her here in Kansas Monday but only reached Forgan before missing the train and returning to Beaver to work as a waitress at the Narrow Gauge Cafe. Mrs Jas E Holcomb visited Beaver from Loxan to see her son in high school and help care for Mrs T KE Carter who is improving. Velma Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs P Smith, has been absent from school a week due to illness but is better now.
Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Green and Scott spent weekend with Mrs. Olive Green south of Elaiwood. W. B. Hanly and ZT. Seal returned from the Texas County Fair. Harry Mendricka and parents visited old friends at Tex J. T. McDermott and Kay McDermott were in Beaver on business. Austin Weaver and Alta Hetrick of Forgan obtained a license. Mrs. Carter improving though she cannot sit up. County Agent Hanly attended the Poland China Hog event five miles south of Balko. P. Meysineer of Forgan visited Teprer on school business. Roy Coons and Myrtle Wells and Maude Birdsall visited Frank Welle ranch. Mrs. James E. Holcomb returned to near Logan. Chas. Eyer attended to business in county seat. Mrs. Gardner new to Here from Enid helping with Carter care. Geo. Hodgson visiting home folks at Blackwell. Otto Barley of Knowles in Beaver several days. Frank Fleck of Ratko State Bank in Beaver one day. Miss Marie Harrie shopped in Liberal.
