Red Cross Christmas cartons reached County Chap ters Beaver and are ready for distribution. Requests to receive must be sent to the local Red Cross organization by November 20th. Maude O. Thomas chairs the Beaver County Chapter. Adoption notices from the Fatherless Children of France society list Shawnee families and others taking in French orphans, with names of adopters and places. Dr. Mary Twyford and Naomi Niles progress in nursing training, and Mrs. O H Casky of Forgan mourns her father’s death. A birth is announced for Mr. and Mrs. McCalk on November 7.

Mrs Ida Weir died at her daughters home after a long illness from diabetes and a paralytic stroke following influenza. Funeral services were held at the home with Rev W B Leonard officiating. Interment was in Beaver cemetery beside her husband and infant daughter. The Weir family are noted as early Beaver county settlers and respected community members.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Oscar Gardner, a longtime Beaver County resident and Knights of Pythias member. Rev J B E Perkins preached, and interment followed at Beaver Cemetery. Gardner leaves a wife and three children, with many friends and relatives mourning his loss.
An obituary note reports the death of Boy Mackey son of Mr. and Mrs D M Mackey after a period of serious illness. The bereaved include a young wife, two daughters, a mother and a sister Mrs Laura Sweet of Plains Kansas and a son of Mr and Mrs Mackey. Roy Mackey referenced in the text is identified as a relative.
