A church service at The Big Tabernacle features a forceful sermon underscoring repentance and faith. The message emphasizes personal transformation, public witness, and steadfast dedication to spiritual life.
Mrs. G. H. Hatton once Mrs. Arthur Murray of Clear Lake is found dead in Beaver County after a husband shoots her and then kills himself. She served as a rural postmistress years ago. Four children survive, with the husband dead years earlier. The motive remains unknown.
A letter from Loe mare to friends in Beaver reports he is getting along fine and grateful for flowers and kindness. He notes the arm loss in a railroad accident recently. The Dr. Davis building, once housing Chas Potter grocery, is now owned by Mevas Brothers, with Harner Shop moving in this week. C P Ferguson of Elmwood visited Beaver on Friday.
The Rural School District 124 northeast of Forgan gains model school approval pending State School Inspector visit. Miss Carrie Smith has taught the term and scored over a thousand points in the field, with cement walks and garden added to enhance the school's model status in Beaver County.
Layton aged 71 years 1 month 27 days passed away at his Balko home Saturday of last week and was buried in Balko cemetery the following Sunday. He had been invalid nearly four years and his death brings relief to the sufferer. Survived by a wife three brothers and two sisters. The Herald offers sympathy to the family.
A Balkan Oklahoma report notes a Sunday lightning strike at Balko church damaging the chimney and stove just before Eli Layton's funeral. Bricks and stove fragments scattered. the crowd assembly could have caused a disaster.
B L Fickel reports a sale of thirty seven yearling Hereford cattle to J A Sanders on the Oklahoma City market. The lot averaged 724 pounds and brought per head. Both seller and buyer were satisfied with the showing.
The Community Institute led by Dr J W Scroggs and eight staff, including Dr Scroggs and Mrs Yost, held three days of programs with Beaver area families. Key events included community singing by Mr Twichell, talks on cooperation and clean living, a countywide farmer conference, and medical inspections revealing tonsil enlargement and malnutrition among local children.
A local proclamation urges Beaver and Beaver County residents to observe May 28 Memorial Sunday with a community gathering, sermon, and singing to honor fallen soldiers. May 30 Decoration Day is noted to gather in tribute to the valiant defenders, urging exclusive observance for the soldiers.
The Beaver Post of the American Legion met in the Layton room Saturday night to discuss Decoration Day observance. Plans will be completed at the next meeting.
