The mayor and city council designate Friday May 18 as CLEAN UP DAY for Beaver. Citizens are urged to remove filth, trash, and breeding grounds for disease, with business owners asked to close 2 to 4 pm to assist. Burn burnable refuse and haul or dump remaining waste to improve health and aesthetics.
Attorney Claude T. Smith departed yesterday for Fort Logan H. Root Arkansas to begin training as a member of the officer reserve corps. He was recently accepted into that division of the army service. The best wishes of the Beaver people go with him for honor and success.
Joe Meese left for Oklahoma City to take the officer reserve corps exam but did not meet enlistment requirements. He offered to serve and enlisted in the infantry, heading to Fort Logan Colorado for further examination and training. The community sends words of support as he begins military service.
Mrs. Homer Hill hosted a five course luncheon Thursday evening for the B H 8 Glee Club and editor of The Herald with accompanist Min Erma Crabtree. Attendees included Misses Lulu Sims Gail Hodge Lucille Hodge Lois Quinn Lenore Long Nelle Boren Lola Meese Marie Francis Mildred Nicholson Clara Mason Erma Crabtree Maude Thomas with Alta Reeves absent due to illness.
Work on Long and Lincon's garage paused last week due to tone failure. Builders resumed this week, walls near completion. The finished structure will adorn Douglas avenue and serve as a showroom and home for the Ford.
Work started this week on a forty foot extension at the bank of beaver city building. A new director's room and a large safety deposit compartment will be built. When finished the interior will be modernized with new furniture and fixtures, enhancing attractiveness and convenience.
A large K P lodge delegation travels to Enid for the annual Grand Lodge meeting. Beaver Lodge degree team was chosen to perform, earning wide district recognition for their exemplary staff.
Work started last week on Span the building progresses slowly yet toward completion. The project aims to handle large crowds, with Beaver already known for its bustling show scene. Spangler Brothers invested in ample space, hoping occupancy by July 1st.
Landowners invited to lease to W. F. Carson & Company with eight percent shares in oil gas and casing head plus one dollar per acre after year one. Drilling expected within four months with in house rigs and seasoned drillers. List of boosters named for outreach and lease uptake.
Stanley Spurrier son of J E Spurrier, manager of the Home Lumber Company, has enlisted and will serve as a marine. He is described as a strong bright young man answering the call to defend his country and prove his mettle and manhood.
Weather notes several rains over the past week improving the suil, aiding growth despite few warm days. Farmers anticipate continued growth with leafy tops and bound growth as May approaches.
