Oklahoma will be bone dry fifteen days before July first under the national bone dry law. The Ferguson bone dry measure takes effect ninety days after adjournment, June 15 if the legislature adjourns March 15. The law bans liquor sales to carriers. federal law bans shipments into the state. Oklahoma becomes a dry state after July 1, while some stock up ahead of the change.
The Trusa Undertaking Company this week received their new hearse on order. A Ford chassis with a French ray body and plate glass aide panels presents a very neat up to date conveyance. One eager to ride in it, though, remains to be seen as the vehicle is meant for its intended funeral use.
Mrs Annie L Jones arriving from Green Ridge Missouri opens millinery parlors on the north side of The Herald building. Stock and fixtures arriving this week with a grand opening to feature new millinery designs. Ladies of town invited to visit and see the display. Big week for local advertising with Savage Cash Store double page ad and full page Lumber Dealers ad. Other ads include Mrs Annie L Jones J J Neufeld V Z Stevens and more.
Fourteen members of the K of P order traveled to Forgan Thursday night last week to perform the third degree work for the lodge there. The Beaver K of P boasts a highly capable team, busy presenting work for neighboring lodges in the region.
Miles Kight, who underwent an operation two weeks ago for appendicitis, is recovering nicely and returned to her home Sunday. She plans to resume duties at the graded school soon. Spangler Bros purchase old grade school building to use for their new theater next to The Herald Building and will begin construction at once.
Reports show Miss Gladys Weight continuing to improve from illness. Doctors say she may be able to return home within the week.
The masonry on the new Metager building ended this week and is moving along at a good rate. If weather remains favorable, the structure should rise quickly and be completed soon.
The Beaver Herald notes the city council passed an ordinance restricting auto parking in the street and praises residents who followed it after a driver parked properly. It laments no public roasting of local trades, cites city funding limits, and urges charitable patience with council decisions.
