Man Shot by Westmoreland in Guymon Tragedy
Guymon community awoke to news of a fatal shooting after Frank Armstrong was killed by William Westmoreland Tuesday evening as he allegedly warned Armstrong about thefts from a liquor deal. Westmoreland, ill in bed, fired through a screen, wounding Armstrong who died twenty minutes later. Westmoreland was arrested and guarded at home. The incident follows rumors that Armstrong had not paid for whisky. The grieving wife lamented the loss as the town hopes for a restraint on liquor trade and a return to calmer times.

Dennis Barragree born 1842 in Linmerick Ireland came to Armerica in 1864 settling in Indiana. He moved to Ilingie then Meade county in 1887 homesteaded in Odee township. Died June 8 after horse incident. funeral June 11 at Meade Opera House. Survived by widow and eleven children, one sister Mary Martin of Fowler, many friends.
