Local items report visits by Supt Swaim and residents at Blue Mound and county seats. Names include John Taylor Gate L. A. Harper Floris and W. G. Khanatian Wichita. Market ads note Red Milk Cows for sale and graphophones at Beaver Holt Furn. Weather smiles with rain boosting spirits as Dooley and Wellborn families relocate and attend gatherings.
Delegations from the Eastern Star lodges at Flo Meade Kansas organized a new Onder of after Star, forming a lodge of about fifty members. Mrs Gertrude Derthick of Florise was in charge of ceremonies. Refreshments followed at Kinder Gostey confectionery. Officers include Mra U1. PL Garrett Worthy Matron J P Garrett Worthy Patron and Mrs J K Long Secretary.
Beaver residents approved a high school bonds measure at the Tuesday election with no dissent. The board will issue bonds, arrange sale, and begin planning the new building and staffing. Miss Viola Iyes of Couch visited Beaver and plans to return to Oklahoma City for further study in the fall.
Beaver Rebekah Lodge No 180 adopts resolutions expressing deep grief at the death of a sister and motherly figure. The note extends sympathy to surviving family, asks publication in local papers, and sends copies to kin. Also reports Sunday events, pastor notes, and local parish updates from Beaver County.
Sheriff H D Peckham and brother Harry arrived from Lamar Colorado. They helped apprehend Fred Richards and Henry Blanchat charged with stealing a team of horses from G H Tyler’s farm six miles two years ago. Blanchat waived preliminary hearing and bond posted. Richards to have preliminary later. Also news of Quinns from Canon City and Wallace Quinn visiting, with Wallace undergoing Hot Springs treatment for lung trouble and reported improving.
Street work adds cement walks along Douglas Avenue with plans to extend on both sides. New sidewalks go in front of the Henana office post office Miles grocery Robertson millinery and De L.8 Munsell's office this week. Mr Josephine Smith and granddaughter Carol Jackson left for Kansas City to join Mrs Ruby Jackson and Clive Smith at a business college there. Mrs Smith will visit her children while Carroll stays with her mother.
After weeks of arid weather a rainstorm arrived on Monday delivering about one inch. The wet spell came too late to save many crops but will help older plantings and storages. Pastures and forage crops should benefit, easing drought stresses.
