Special notice states the Christian church auditorium is under repair and the congregation will hold Sunday services in the court room at the court-house at the usual hour. Everyone is welcome.
Arthur Bell of Lakemp died on Saturday January 8 following burns from a gasoline explosion weeks earlier. Mrs Bell also perished and a younger child died soon after. another child and the father survived but were seriously burned and the family is mourned. The Herald joins friends in sympathy. A second item notes Geof Smith Oklahoma secretary of the state wheeland board visiting with stenographer Mise Bond to address school land department business and appraisals.
A Sunday afternoon car trip near Balko ended when a rear wheel broke and the vehicle rolled. Marion 8mirch Roy Carter Eva Right and Effle Right were thrown clear with only Carter spraining a ankle. Austin Humphrey replaced the broken wheel, and the party continued. The incident followed a rail line update with tracks nearing the depot and a planned farmer’s restaurant development by Powell Brothers of Cherokee near Maul Light lumber yard.
The Alva Elevator Company finished installing scales in front of their new office, and plans to begin construction of McKillips Building. Frank McKillips started a new six room bungalow north of the PG Emberson property, with the M. L. Grain Company elevator nearly complete and ready for business pending track completion. Probst Elevator work progresses as HP Probst and son oversee construction on the site of the old bottom gin, weather permitting aiming to have grain yard ready by February. Taxes extended to March 1 for first half payments with penalties after that date.
The Rev. J. B. Perkins of Wishu Kannan will arrive in Beaver on February 6 to start a series of revival meetings at the M. E. Church. He is currently at Gate assisting Rev. W. M. Hayes. A fuller statement of the work to be attempted here will appear next week. BE, Lawns, Pastor.
The Entre Nous Club met at Mrs O D Smith home with Mrs J A Boohn hosting. After social time and business, light refreshments followed and the next meeting will be at Miss Kring Crabtree’s with Mrs R Loofbourrow hosting. A new national bank will not occupy Roberts McKillips. it will be in the south side of the new Truax building with fixtures installed and a likely opening soon.
A short note urges readers to renew or pay for a year in advance of the Herald. It appeals for remittances from those on the list, asking for a dollar or two if possible, either in person or by mail, to keep the paper delivered to paying subscribers.
