David Burk Dies After Long Illness

David Burk, aged resident of the Brown school house neighborhood, died Sunday from old age infirmities. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with interment in Beaver cemetery.

Washington Birthday Social At Federated Church

Members and friends of the Federated church gathered Friday evening for a Washington's Birthday social. N B Davis and wife portrayed George and Martha in a charming sketch. A brief literary and musical program preceded games. Cherry pie and coffee concluded the evening despite heavy Friday snow.

Snowy county roads await repairs after melt

Red Cross knitting to be renewed in county chapters

Word from Red Cross Division headquarters in St Louis indicates an imminent order to resume knitting. Expected quotas will require stock ings and sweaters for children in large quantities and scraps of wool to be used for women's shawls and children's mufflers. Albert Bennie of Lakemp returns home to Uhix County after honorable discharge from the army. He served with the 90th Division and fought at Chauteau Thierry. Asa Van deberg Returns From France War Service

Asa Van deberg, son of W. 8. Van deberg of near Balko, was discharged from overseas duty in Uncle Sam’s service. He was severely wounded in action but has recovered enough to be at home. A large circle of friends greet him as he rests and heals. J. te Bridwell, near Riverbend, came home from Blythedale Missouri after visiting his father who remained there.
