About thirty five people gathered at the Methodist church last Thursday to discuss forming a Community Club. No organization yet, but enthusiasm runs high. A committee was named to plan tonight’s meeting at the church and a larger crowd is expected. Laura M. Hoyt of Rockport endorses Chamberlain's Tablets for headaches and pale ailments.
Be in Beaver for the marriage of Carl Groves and Elia Ikisson of Forgan. They receive congratulations from friends and The Herald. A note from O H Coffin and wife of Beaver says they moved to Wichita Kansas for a show, and address updates are given. Hubert Potter and Chas Potter families are mentioned with health notes from Hutchinson Methodist Hospital. Mrs Hammon returns from Hobart to visit daughter.
The Ladies Movico Club gathered Tuesday evening at Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Stalling with Beulah Hall hosting. Mrs H Leafbourrow led the lesson on Verde's Trovatore and shared a story of the opera. Performances included The Soldiers Chorus by W G Branathan and a duet Home to Our Mountains sung by Vesta Carter and Anos Hughes. The club voted to donate to the Community Build Fund as a Christmas gift to the GI Industrial School at Tecumseh.
Judge Sutton excused jurors yesterday with instructions to report Monday morning. Those not deliberating or who had not reached a verdict were released as motions and related matters were adjourned for the interim.
Lawrence McCabe received word that his pension increase was approved through Congressman Manuel T. Herrick. The allowance amounts to 20.00 dollars per month, effective July 20, 1921.
After 86 hours of deliberation a jury returns a guilty verdict of manslaughter in the first degree against Hosea Ellis. The court must decide punishment with possible terms from four to ninety nine years and may consider reformatory disposition due to Ellis age. Prosecution attorneys Gardner and Culwell led the case with defense by Dickson Adkins and Adkins.
The Mothers' Club served a splendid chicken dinner at the Miles building on Monday, clearing about 90 dollars for the Behoof Fire Escape Fund. The event notes that the Democratic party will supply advertising materials gratis, with hopes for an even better dinner next week.
District court jurors listed with hometowns including Beaver Riverside and Lorena. Mre and Mes W. H. Anderson of Liberal Kansas spent Monday night in Beaver while en route to the W. H. Ginter farm near Elmwood. Anderson planned to see the Delco Light agent and obtain a list of supplies needed by Ginter for his lighting system.

Dr J W Measersmith suffered a slight sprain after being pinned under his roadster on a country road Monday night. The car became high centered on a hill and, when not released, rolled onto him as he pried it free with boards. He escaped with minor injuries as matches in his pocket were ignited during the struggle.
Mrs RB Lootbourrow expects to leave Beaver for Miami the first week of next week to spend a week with Mrs Duke Ballinger. Judge Lootbourrow will join her and they will travel to Lebanon Tennessee where their son Bernard attends law school. They will return via Allen and stay with relatives, planning to be away until after the holiday.
A coach came back from Wichita Kansas after several weeks for eye treatment. The care improved his vision substantially and he feels fully repaid for the trip.
