Clear Lake Red Cross branch notes a Tuesday meeting at the sewing room with Nettie Foster and T H Lane among confirmed attendees. Fragments list visitors and indicate the group is near completion of current work ahead of a new quota.
At a county council of defense meeting last week, F C Tracy resigned as chairman and W L Beardsley of Forgan was chosen to succeed him. Beardsley will be paid a salary to devote full time to the duties. He has headed the Forgan council and will now oversee Beaver County defense efforts full time. Jessie Keith, Democratic candidate for Court Clerk, pledges a thorough campaign and hopes to be elected in November.
The Glandon and Smith families express gratitude to friends and neighbors for kindness during illness and after the death of their loved one. May God bless all who helped.
Court Clerk DeGraw travels to Colorado this week with wife and children to explore relocating there for future home. Eldest son and wife’s tuberculosis concerns are noted, as DeGraw will complete his term of office here before joining them. Mr and Mrs Robert Wayland also return from a two month trip to Kansas.

Local Board announces all males turning 21 since June 5 1918 must register before August 4. Mrs A G Thomas has been ill for weeks with Mrs Smith nurse from Lorena attending then returning home. Mentions Mrs Jack Etanandilt and Misses Gooch among others referenced in a weathered clipping.
Memorial services will be held at Remer's Grove west of Sunset on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Floyd Girton a former resident killed in France July 25. Rev J E Perkins of Beaver will speak. The Beaver Male Quartet and Beaver County Band will perform. Floyd was a Sunset band member and the entire county is invited to attend Beaver county's first martyr to freedom.
The Western District exemption board released a classified roster of 1918 registrants with designations 1-A 2-A 2-B 4-A among names such as McKinty Wright Williams Detciley and others. The list appears in The Oklahoman dated August 6, detailing each individual’s draft category and initials.
The Adjutant General via the Long Board announces a September call likely to include nearly all men born in 1917 and 1918. The men will entrain between November and December.
A large crowd of Odd Fellow Rebekahs and families enjoyed an all day picnic at the Peckham north of Beaver. The event featured a big basket dinner band music patriotic speeches and games. Also noted were local moves including Hammond relocating his family and J C Judd Jr taking over a transfer business from J B Provost.
