H H Martens of near Gray reported a lightning strike last week that destroyed his granary and about 350 bushels of wheat. Some wheat was saved but was unfit for marketing. insurance covered the loss. He noted the risk and affirmed support for insurance.
There is a lull in public sales but expectations rise as harvest completes. The office has spent a week issuing sale bills including notable items for A. L. Priest and Ralph Garton, both from near La Kemp. Twel Jerald in Eawing and Gardner tx list a bookkeeper at Cox Henry Grath company.
Lucien Wright of Beaver and Leander Niles, brothers in arms, returned from overseas service. Both served as orderlies and survived heavy fighting with no serious disability. Their families and friends rejoiced as the pair reunited after months apart. Welcome home, boys.
August 18 sale at Slocum's farm 28 miles northwest of Beaver features bred gilts sows and spring pigs of Duroc Jersey bloodlines. Ernest Slocum hosts the event, inviting all buyers to view top purebred stock and attend the auction.
Walter Parker from Six Mile informed Beaver residents Saturday that his cousin Mary Waddle serving with the A E F in France had died of disease. The young man, son of Roy Waddle formerly of Beaver, was nephew to Mrs. S A Stedman and Mrs. Frank Reene of Beaver.
