Three inmates escaped the county jail Monday night around 10 o clock while jailor HR Maddox was attending another prisoner in the court rooms. Bill Lane serving twenty years for statutory rape fled with Blondy and Arg ed, using a pipe wrench hidden in their cell to pick locks. Tom Blake, held for contempt, stayed in bed as others fled. Spelling Contest at Beaver Chooses Blue Mound Student

Farmers Institute held in Beaver with a county spelling contest at the M E church. Miss Fay Skinowr of Blue Mound and Richard Moore of Beaver led before Blue Mound won. Institute speeches urged stronger farming courses, hog improvement, and better hogs. demonstrations and lectures by Bapt & W. Black entertained and informed. Attendance reached 151 adults and 65 youths.

Akin Bill Filed to End 14 Oklahoma State Schools

A petition with 20 971 signatures was filed by Oliver H Akin of Moore to initiate a measure to replace fourteen state institutions including six agricultural schools two university preparatory schools at Tonkawa and Claremore the normal schools at Tahlequah Weatherford and Chickasaw girls college and the mining school.
