Found Him Asleep at Burglary Scene

A man slept through a burglary at his home in Safety Stevens. His wife warned him that intruders were present, but he joked that they would not steal anything since their money was in the barn. Police noted the burglars left with only blank checks and loose change.

May 6 1919 Hard Surfaces Road Amendment Election Notice

A special election is called for May 6 1919 to vote on a constitutional amendment establishing hard surfaced roads and funding. Registration opens 10 days per precinct starting 20 days before and ends 10 days before the election. Women may register on the same basis as men. Beav er County War Hero Joe Meese Returns Home

Joe Meese son of County Judge H D Meese returns from nearly two years overseas with honor after serving under General Pershing. He saw action at Chateau Thierry, endured gas injuries, and was the first Beav er county lad to enlist and go overseas. A grand welcome in Beaver included a special train, singing, and speeches at the Christian church and Globe building.

Five Mundred Club Entertained At Spurrier Home

Members and guests of the Five Mundred Club enjoyed a pleasant evening at Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Spurrier’s home on Wednesday. Tables were set and a luncheon including salad bread and butter sandwiches coffee peach charbet and cake was served. The Long and Lawson garage sale this week awaits the transfer to HH Lawson who will take over the business as Dr. Long retires. A Missionary Society meeting for Indies interest is planned at Mrs. L. L. Loms home next Tuesday afternoon April 30. The Presbyterian church event invites attendance Tuesday evening for a talk by a guest speaker.
