A hearty rain fell Tuesday night across the central and eastern county, easing dust and blowing wind. The general shower was sufficient to quiet dust winds that had plagued the area for weeks, bringing relief and a sense of calm after a dry spell.
Boys paid the penalty by staging an entertainment for the girls of the class after losing an elite attendance contest at the Methodist Sunday School. Mrs C H Oathy of Porgan attended the district federation clubs convention in session at Alva this week.
Beaver High School hosted the county Spelling and Reading Contests on Saturday April 2. Twenty two contestants from districts across the county competed with Everest Pansoh spelling one hundred words correctly and Donald Phelps taking second prize. Winners earned five dollars each with prizes donated by local sponsors including the Beaver Herald and W. S. Hanly.
The Mothers' Club backs a photoplay fundraiser. The Miracle Man screens at The Globe Monday night April 11 with net proceeds shared with the club. Manager Spangler aims to offset costs and offer Beawar residents a quality film, urging community support.
Judge Arthur G. Sutton arrived from Alva to convene the regular April district court session on Monday. The docket is large but the judge expects most cases to be quickly dispensed. A jury panel was called. local letters and health issues are noted as the court proceeds.
