The Georgetown and District Amateur Swimming Club Inc. held its annual meeting on Sept 23 with sparse attendance. Officials elected include Patron J. G. Lyons MP, President George Ferme, Treasurer J. W. Pairhead, and Captain F. C. Boyce. Overdraft trimmed by more than £12, improvements noted, and a working bee prepared for the swimming season. The minutes praise late Mr. S. Nancarrow’s services. Local news mentions Mrs. L. M. Douhardt moving to Parkside, a furniture clearing sale, and a farewell at the Baptist Church for Mrs. and Miss Denhardt. Other items cover Prince Noonan’s fete support, September rainfall, crop prospects, and community notices.
