Dipping of Sheep Regulations for South Australia Farmers
Sheep owners in most districts must dip between September 1 and January 31 under the Stock and Poultry Diseases Act 1934/41. Infected sheep must be dipped within 60 days of shearling. It is illegal to sell or transport infested sheep and to let them stray onto others' land. Reasons for dipping failures include short bath times, improper solution mixing, not mustering all sheep, and omitting lambs. Arsenic-only dips kill pests but not tick eggs. a second treatment after 21–24 days is advised. Mutual area cooperation suggested to control infestation.
