South Australian Premier Hon. L. Butler and M.P. J. A. Lyons visited Gladstone to inspect flood-affected areas and bridges. They met with council leaders and residents at Memorial Hall and pledged follow-up action via Public Works to address railway-bridge obstruction and property damage. The Gladstone district council met on March 8 1938 with members Bennett Potter GM Black Lee Nourse Page ONeill and Clerk C Budge. Reports were received including flood education deputation plans and washout concerns. Finance paysheet and grants were approved alongside road and street lighting works and a small donation to the Soldiers Aid Society. A gate erection and road fencing extensions were approved and Caltowle road No 3 slated for completion. The Local Board of Health reported a suspected infantile paralysis case under surveillance and disinfection of the dwelling and Methodist Church.

The bride wore a cowl neck gown with a long tulle veil and carried gladioli and orange blossoms. Miss Rona Cummings, her sister, wore old rose taffeta with pink gladioli, while best man Mr Alan Simpson stood with the bridal party. The mother of the bride and mother of the groom wore navy and maroon outfits with matching posies. During the signing Mr J C Shurray sang, and guests later gathered at the groom’s parents home for toasts. The bride’s going away dress was beige romaine with bead trim.
