An old ad lists fabric dimensions and color options Blue Floral Green Floral and Autumn Shades. It notes a two yard limit per customer along with assorted sizes and prices for en and pair items. Fender Stools priced at 11 shillings 3 pence.
Jamestown Bowling Green hosted the Championship of Champions as seven clubs contested the final. Jamestown beat Gulnare 17 15 in the final end after a tight day with standout bowls from Kurtzer Garnett Clift and Jack Murray.
January 1948 saw very little rainfall except for freak storms at Terowie. Wheat yielded unevenly with rust affecting later crops. oats and barley performed well. peas yielded highly. lucerne underperformed with poor seed setting and high flower shedding. Sheep are generally sound but blowflies cause losses. twin pregnancy disease reported in some stock. Feed is scarce with little green feed. fallows below average and weed-infested. high fire frequency but overall property damage moderate.
H T Harslett posted the top score over 800 yards in the fifth stage while H J Sargent D M Weatherill M Osman and L C Oborn led other events. Oborn holds the Cockburn championship lead with 380 and Weston aggregate. rounds show Jamestown Crystal Brook Gulnare Laura Port Pirie Gladstone and Caltowie results. Final match Jamestown 18 Port Pirie 26.
The first meeting of the Gladstone Memorial Committee was held at the Library on Friday with officers elected and a quorum set at twelve. Plans discuss memorial options, with decisions postponed pending Inspector of Places of Public Entertainment safety report on the district hall and a March 23 adjourned meeting.
