Laura Hospital Annual Meeting 1947 48 Board Reports
Laura Hospital Incorporated held its annual subscribers meeting February 3 1948 in Laura Town Hall. Chairman F G Rix read last minutes and the treasurer’s statement showing a deteriorated financial position with rising arrears and a need for skilled staff. The report covered staff resignations including Matron Groverman and several nurses, finances, patients admitted and treated, babies born, and fundraising events that boosted funds despite staffing challenges. A new ward and staff quarters were discussed as crucial, with government support anticipated.
